The Bodhi root is a type of Bodhi seed. It is not the root of a tree but the seed of the plant Palm palm, which belongs to the genus Palm Palm of the Arecaceae family. The surface of the Bodhi root is rough and patterned, while the inside is white and lustrous, with a color similar to ivory white. If the Bodhi roots are burned, there will be a delicate fragrance of plants. After being played with for a long time, the Bodhi root will turn yellowish-brown and develop fine textures on its surface.
Bodhi roots are divided into white Bodhi roots and black Bodhi roots. They have a large output and a relatively low price, so there are fewer counterfeits in the market. Playing method
Like most Bodhi seed bracelets, an unprocessed Bodhi root bracelet should first be rubbed with a rough cloth on the surface of the beads. This is to clean the wax layer on the surface for further polishing. About a week later, switch to rubbing with a soft cotton cloth. This step is for polishing the beads. After two weeks of initial handling, you can leave the bracelet naturally for a week to allow the surface of the beads to come into even contact with the air, which will oxidize and form a protective layer. Hand-playing is the most exhausting part of the process. When playing, keep your hands dry and avoid contact with water, steam, etc. After one or two weeks of handling, the surface of the beads will develop a patina. Over time, you will find that the Bodhi Root bracelet becomes lustrous and full of vitality. Well-coiled beads sometimes have a glassy luster.
Precautions
If you frequently play with the beads of the Bodhi root, they will get dirty. Just like other Bodhi seed bracelets, just wipe them with a damp cotton cloth, but be sure not to make them too wet
Methods for identifying Bodhi Roots
When identifying Bodhi roots, one can distinguish them by burning, soaking in water or touching the texture. Natural Bodhi roots will have a burnt smell when burned, and will slowly sink when soaked in water. The size of the texture on the surface should not be appropriate. However, counterfeit products will give off a pungent smell after being burned.
Fire burning method
When identifying the authenticity of Bodhi roots, the burning method can be used for discrimination. Natural Bodhi roots have a special fragrance. When placed on a lighter and baked, a burnt wood smell can be detected. However, fake Bodhi roots are mostly made of plastic and tend to develop a pungent odor after being burned.
